About Ahmed

Ahmed is Counsel at Habib AL Mulla & Partners. He specializes in M&A, General Corporate & Commercial, and Arbitration Lawyer. He possesses a uniquely diversified expertise. Mr. Owais specializes in various areas including international commercial arbitration, corporate and commercial contracts, M&As, construction, development, real estate, hotelier & tourism and prides himself as a pioneer practitioner of e-commerce, sports, and entertainment. He also advises on corporate structuring, venture capitation, and oil and gas.

Ahmed held many academic and professional positions. He was a Counsel at Khodeir & Partners, the Group General Counsel and Company Secretariat of Al Ahly Capital Holding, the private equity and investment arm of National Bank of Egypt, after working in the Arbitration, Projects, and Oil & Gas Groups at Zulficar & Partners Law Firm, a leading Egyptian Law Firm. In prior, he has been appointed as member then VP of the Legal Committee at Gezira Sporting Club, a renowned top-class Egyptian sports and social Club. He also worked as a corporate associate at Tahoun Law Office at the Beginning of his career. Ahmed regularly appears as speaker, panelist, or keynote address in regional and international conferences, amongst which are Keynote Address in Global Legal ConfEX, Middle East; and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) – UK/Europe Round Table Discussion.

At Habib Al Mulla, Ahmed leads complex transactions and M&As, represents clients in negotiations, drafts agreements, and renders high level and complex advice. He works within both local and international legal frameworks. His skills in English and Arabic, along with his legal software proficiency, enable him to work across multiple jurisdictions providing top class quality in a timely manner.   • Represented as co-counsel alongside Hogan Lovells an international fund in a US$ 6 billion dispute against a state-affiliated fund in parallel-proceedings, before the Courts of California and Egyptian Courts.
  • Represented Claimant, a UAE Construction Company, in a US$ 50 million dispute against an Australian sub-contractor under the Rules of the DIAC.
  • Advised and represented a major regional telecom operator in a complex acquisition of a telecom towers licensor under UAE law and Egyptian Law. The transaction amount was EGP 200 million.
  • Incorporated an EGP 700 million holding company before GAFI obtaining all required Licenses from FRA.
